New Active and Print and Pattern Trendbooks released for Autumn/Winter 12-13 – available now...

24/01/2011

The season starts with the release of two new editions of the Active and Print and Pattern trend books that feature the new trend called 'Nations Rising'.  The trend is inspired by nations and cultures at the forefront of creativity, innovation and sustainability.  Welcome to 'Nations Rising': A season of cultural remix, technological development and sustainable luxury.

Presented in three trends: Remix is a fusion of African and Asian cultural aesthetics with a sense of decoration. Synthesise this is strongly influenced by South Korea, cutting-edge technology, hyper-reality and synthetics. Myriad, interprets future Arabia with a combination of sustainability, luxury and creativity.

As Fiona Jenvey CEO of Mudpie comments “Trend forecasting is a strategic function within the creative industries.

Both books include copies of Mpd Trends which enables retailers, brands and manufacturers to make profitable decisions about the development of product based on creative insight and consumer attitude. According to the Design Council (UK): "The creative economy within industrialized nations is predicted to grow at twice the rate of all other industries over the next decade showing that 'Creative thinking' means that creative strategy starts in the boardroom. MPD Trends is the combination of Creative Thinking and consumer insight which makes this publication a strategic part of the product development. An interesting market segment for us last year is the client base we have built up in the personal care and cosmetics industry with companies like P&G and their suppliers and indeed, according to Alan G. Lafley, CEO of Proctor and Gamble "design, will be the ultimate competitive advantage in the 21st Century."

"MPD Active is our most successful trend book", according to Fiona Jenvey the CEO of Mudpie. "We believe the success of MPD Active is the combination of Trends, creative design and consumer insight which make our services a strategic part of the product development process and not just a creative one. Today the sports industry is one of the few industries experiencing growth, overall around 35% between 2001-10, with further growth forecast from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Cycling has grown by 107% in London between 2001-9 and Triathlon, which has increased over 50% over past 3 years (USA). Outside traditional sports Cyber games are now officially the world's most popular sport. Gesture, 3D and holographic technology will further augment real world participation and digital participation sports. These factors and more are addressed in our
A/W 12/13 edition"

About MPD Active – MPD Active is a trend publication for the sports apparel, hardware and active lifestyle industry.

This Trend book contains highly commercial trend-led sports apparel, graphics and prints relevant to performance sports and including meditative sports, outdoor adventure sports, cycling, winter snow sports, equestrianism and after hours sports such as bowling, cyber gaming and even boot camp work- outs.

This new edition of MPD Active is more functional with the inclusion of zoom shots and interior shots of garments putting a technical focus on the ranges and showing off the functional details effectively. This is enhanced using a visual technical key using symbols to provide textile, technological and graphic application specifications
for garments.

Our other new edition, "MPD Print and Pattern sells successfully into many different creative industries, outside of the apparel and interiors sectors" according to Mudpie CEO, Fiona Jenvey. "We believe the success is due to the combination of Trends, creative design and consumer insight which make our services a strategic part of the product development process and not just a creative one. An interesting market segment for us last year is the client base we have built up in the personal care and cosmetics industry with companies like P&G and their suppliers. The packaging of beauty and personal care products accounts for over 52% of total retail packaging much of which uses elements of print and pattern. It is also key for these companies to be in step with the colours, and trends used by the fashion industry.

About MPD Print and Pattern – MPD Print and Pattern is a trend book for the textile, apparel, home, interior and
gift Industries.

This Trend book contains seasonal trend and colour information for any industry working with surface print including fashion, textiles, interiors, cosmetics, packaging, consumer goods, paper goods and gift. The versatility of the designs means they are applicable for surface and textile printing as well as embroidery and appliqué.

For A/W 12/13 there is a more tactile feeling to MPD Print and Pattern book which includes the suggestion of fabric swatches, interior items, and texture. Content is relevant to any creative industry interested in surface print and the use of colour. Each trend is further explained through textiles, trims and print techniques.

Both books contain files that are fully Editable on DVD – this season all garments, accessories and logos are supplied as individual editable files in vector formats for Illustrator and Corel Draw or compatible software. Individual graphics and prints are supplied in an editable format either vector as an editable Photoshop file. A new feature is the graphics library at the end of each book which shows the file format available making it easier for designers to work more efficiently when opening and editing files.
