fit/opr color & trend forum discusses 'change' and 'balance' for aw101110/06/2009 Twice a year, Overseas Publishers Representatives (OPR) in New York host a series of trend and color focused seminars delivered by leading experts and companies in their fields. The latest Color & Trend Forum presented and analyzed the forecast predictions for the Fall/Winter 2010/2011 season.OPR's A/W 2010-11Color & Trend Forum was held June 2, 2009, in partnership with the Center for Professional Studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology. This bi-annual event held at the FIT Katie Murphy Amphitheater in New York City and was very well attended by Fashion industry professionals from all across the USA. The roster of speakers included Ben Gomes, VP Creative Services at OPR, USA; Carol Meek, President/Owner Color Portfolio, USA; Debbie Weinberg, Executive VP Marketing at OPR for Mudpie/Mpdclick Online, UK; Elgin Schmelzer and Thorsten Graeff, Owners/Creative Directors of Readymade Color & Print Studio, Germany; and Laurie Pressman, VP of Pantone Fashion, Home & Interiors, USA. Each speaker presented their interpretation of the upcoming major themes of the season. The major trends that emerged included: Balance, Neo-Conservatism, Blurred Vision, Change, and Mosaic. Mudpie's presentation, Blurred Vision, defined the evolution of consumer habits and attitudes, a reflection of the current environmental and economic climates resulting in a more cautious, conscious consumer who needs to be inspired by creativity and connected to a product before buying it. From prints to garments to accessories and everything in-between, Mudpie breaks it down into understandable, do-able elements that designers can utilize to innovate their collections for Fall/Winter 2010/11. "We are delighted to also be presenting this seminar at the August 4, 5 & 6, 2009 DIRECTION by Indigo Event in New York" commented Debbie Weinberg, Executive VP Marketing for OPR. In the coming weeks a synopsis of each of the speakers topics will be posted weekly in the OPR News section at www.oprny.com. We invite everyone who was unable to attend this resoundingly successful event to visit the OPR website to review the predicted influences for the A/W 2010-11 season. Due to the positive response to this A/W event, plans for the S/S 2011 Forum are already in the works for early December 2009. |
