ss11 mudpie trendbooks – a complete design tool at your fingertips

08/10/2009

Mudpie will complete their Spring/Summer 2011 Trendbook offering this week with the launch of their full range of garment, graphic and accessory trendbooks to the market.

Following on from Mudpie's release of the SS11 Print & Pattern trendbook in July this year, the complete range of six Spring/Summer 2011 trendbooks are now available.

The Mudpie range includes: Cutiepie - baby trends, Minipie - kids trends, Mudpie - tween and junior trends, MPK Female - female trends, MPK Male - male trends and Print & Pattern - all over print trends. Each book provides the user with every opportunity to create, or add to, their own unique garment, graphic, accessory, homeware or interior ranges.

Continuing on the success of their trendbooks for another season, the Spring/Summer 2011 books reflect Mudpie's continued efforts to respond to customer feedback, plus their vision and expert trend insight and research, and their ability to deliver a quality product that is not only visionary, but a complete, usable design tool.

Fiona Jenvey, CEO of Mudpie commented, "Consideration is the theme for our SS11 books. Today's successful brand needs to reflect on usability, innovation and, above all, good design."

"According to the Design Council's programme 'Designing Demand,' businesses which invest in design make an enviable $50 USD for every $1 USD invested, meaning that the business needs to be more design driven than ever. In an environment where the fashion retailer needs to think of 'new and next' it is time for greater investment in your company's design department," Fiona said.

Mudpie continue to improve and develop their trendbooks season on season making them an indispensible tool. The main points of interest that have been implemented for the SS11 trendbooks are:

  • Moving on from the 'key look' pages from AW1011, Mudpie's collections are more 'mix and match', with commercial merchandising ideas and more useful basic items
  • A textile page for each direction, which gives the customer information on suitable fabrics and denims
  • Graphics are commercially focused yet still fresh and new. A return to the oversized graphic page enhances more detailed graphics
  • Prints allow the user to not only edit the title, but to extract single elements as titles are clipped rather than permanently cropped
  • A new matte finish paper enhances the colours and details, while giving the book a more sophisticated look and pleasing tactile quality
  • The Pantone colour chip rip-out pages in the back of the book are back, as is the Pantone refer ence colour card presented in the front of the trend books.
This season, Mudpie continue to work with three main trends, each of which is then divided into three sub-trends, thereby providing a more comprehensive interpretation for a wider customer base. The three sub-trends each reflect a certain fashion direction: 'Fashion and Tailoring' (a directional, forward thinking range), 'Leisure' (a range with a sporty or active feel) and 'Seasonal and Casual' (for highly commercial ranges with an emphasis on seasonal garments). A brief overview of the three new trends Mudpie predict for the Spring/Summer 2011 season are:

Enlighten
Traditional styles blend with contemporary visions in a trend influenced by the rich and vibrant country of India. New India inspires a cosmopolitan lifestyle, while national pride is embodied in an unwavering devotion to cricket and travellers seeking out unique cultural experiences.

Sobriety
The material excesses of the pre-recession society are forgotten, in favour of a humble, wholesome existence. Pleasure is found in relationships, community and life experience; a utilitarian revival begins, placing emphasis on style based on authenticity and timelessness instead of conspicuous and needless consumption. The idea of change fills many with hope for a new future founded on simplicity, ethics and wisdom.

Fable
A return to innocence manifests itself within the majesty and intrigue of the forest. Epic children's literature and the romance of idyllic, natural ways of life are underpinned by resurgences of fantasy ideals within cinema, fashion and design. Nature fuses with technology to produce a unique, hybridised vision of an ecological future, while retaining a vital link to times long since past.

Mudpie books provide cost effective design solutions for all areas of the children's market from babies through to teens and young adults.
