2/11/2009
High quality resources with growth in key categories proved a success
Market Center Management Company (MCMC), the management company of leading wholesale trade centers and trade events around the world, have announced that the second edition of GlobalTex: LA International Textile & Sourcing Fair TM proved a success during the event held October 13-15 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC). The show is endorsed by the Textile Association of Los Angeles (TALA) and California Fashion Association (CFA) and supported by Espace Textile, Fashion Business Incorporated (FBI), and Mudpie Ltd.
"GlobalTex is truly setting a new standard for West Coast shows," said Bill Winsor, president and CEO, Market Center Management Company. "The second edition showed a significant increase in international resources with a European focus. We are delivering quality resources at a well designed event inside a fresh venue. And we are looking forward to growth for March."
GlobalTex welcomed thousands of attendees from 15 countries and 28 states including an increase from the East Coast as well as 125 exhibitors during the three-day show. Just a few of the designers and major stores that attended include: 7 For All Mankind, American Apparel, Disneyland Resorts, Forever 21, Karen Kane and Kohl's.
The show featured the largest collection of European resources on the West Coast with an approximate 35 percent increase in the number of high-end international resources compared to the inaugural show. The denim, eco-friendly lines and creative textile exhibitors saw growth and remain important key areas for the next show in March. The eco-friendly category was branded "Renew" with special signage to designate these exhibitors.
In addition to more resources, 50 percent more consulates and commissions attended GlobalTex to review the show for March 2010 including: Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Italy/Italian Trade Commission (ITC), Japan, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Indonesia, Korean Apparel Manufacturing Association (KAMA), Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Peru, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan/Department of Export Promotion (DEP) and Turkey.
"The wide-range of international lines is a highlight of GlobalTex," said Cindy Morris, COO, Market Center Management Company. "The show delivers high-end resources in a professional environment. It brings the quality of leading shows on the East Coast and in Europe to the West Coast."
Fiona Jenvey, CEO of Mudpie, echoes Winsor and Morris' comments on the international diversity of the show this season, "In addition to Californian visitors, Mudpie West Coast, in partnership with the Patricia Brandt Company, welcomed visitors from as far away as Australia and Israel."
"Mudpie was also thrilled to be able to present our range of products and trend seminars to customers and visitors at the show who were new to our brand. It is always exciting to educate potential new customers about the possibilities Mudpie's printed and online products can offer the designer, buyer, retailer, marketer and CEO of any business in a creative industry."
Exclusive trend partners Mudpie and Denimhead provided attendees with the highest level of international trend intelligence. Mudpie provided two services at GlobalTex: directional trend displays and seminars. In addition, Mudpie provided attendees the opportunity to purchase its trend books and online forecasting. Mudpie's mission is to design, distribute, sell and promote the world's leading trend information within printed products, online services and design consultancy.
Denimhead participated in the show as the anchor of the Wear section, providing trend books and services geared toward helping companies begin the design process secure in their understanding of the direction the market is heading. Denimhead is a cutting edge fashion service specializing in denim and casual sportswear.
"Our partnership with Mudpie and Denimhead is a key aspect of GlobalTex," said Stephanie Cole, vice president, GlobalTex. "Along with our visual design team, these superior forecasters delivered cutting edge Trend Labs as well as relevant educational information to attendees."
PERISCOPE, the leading print design representation firm in Los Angeles, and Creations Robert Vernet, an art studio located in Lyon, France, also participated in the show and presented a key seminar. Peri O'Connor, founder of PERISCOPE, and Stephane Vernet, president of Creations Robert Vernet, discussed Fall/Winter 2010 and the hot new prints and art direction for the season.
