design wales’ trend event (gbr)

07/03/2008

Design Wales’ Trend Style and Colour Event took place last week amid the lovely surrounds of Cardiff. The guest speakers are always from world-leading prediction companies, such as Mudpie, Promostyl and Carlin International. The aim is to publicise style, colour and trend information to Welsh fashion, interior, product, textile and design businesses in order to give them easy access to up-to-date information relevant to their sector. The event also encourages Welsh businesses to utilise trend information, and other intelligence they acquire, to their best advantage when introducing new ranges and planning future production.

This year’s event was enjoyed by diverse businesses from around Wales including Peacocks, who have a network of 542 stores across the country and focus on clothing and footwear for men, women and children. Presentations were given by Fiona Jenvey, the CEO of Mudpie Ltd, Mathew Jeatt, UK Director, from Promostyle and Alison Hughes, UK Agent, from Carlin. Fiona Jenvey’s presentation was a discussion about a revolutionary fusion of modern and ancient culture, focussing on Mudpie’s exclusively developed and well analysed four trends for the season, Techno Organic, Southern Soundbite, State of the Art and Nomadic inspired by the Mudpie trend books and Mudpie’s online service. Fiona said, “This seminar was a wonderful opportunity for Mudpie to interact with a local audience in Wales. People were very interested in our predictions and there was a great deal of excitement about Mudpie products including our free offer of trial access to our website www.mpdclick.com”.

Lucy Richardson, Design Advisor at Design Wales and the event organiser, said “Design Wales provides design support for individual Welsh businesses and endeavours to encourage and develop the use of design in Welsh industry and education through presenting this trend seminar. The presentations were most informative and interesting. Images, colours and descriptive text helped to convey understanding of key themes for Spring Summer 09.”
